We teamed up with our friends at the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television to offer alternative, live-streaming coverage in the press room of the inaugural CANADIAN SCREEN AWARDS. Last year we offered similar coverage of the Genies, Canada’s equivalent to the Oscars, which has been combined with the television and digital media awards to form the CSAs.

Joined by two outstanding comedic performers, Dan Beirne and Etan Muskat, we had the opportunity to talk irreverently with Canadian cinema and television nominees and winners. However, due to a snafu on the part of the technical team administering the recording of our live feed, the audio of first half of the stream only went out live. Missing from this highlight reel include Kim Nguyen and the majority of the award-winning Rebelle (War Witch) team, Don Carmody (Resident Evil series), the Mr. X digital studio team, Brian Williams (CBC Announcer), Metric’s Emily Haines and James Shaw (Cosmopolis), Jason Buxton (Blackbird), Ariel Nasr (Boxing Girls of Kabul) and the team behind Throat Song.

The interviews that remain stem mostly from the world of Canadian television, including Less Than Kind‘s Wendel Meldrum (The Wonder Years) and Mark McKinney (Kids in the Hall), the venerable actor James Cromwell, the dragons of Dragon’s Den, George Stroumboulopoulos (The Hour) and Keith Mars himself, Enrico Colantoni (Flashpoint, Veronica Mars).
