Don McKellar is a Canadian filmmaker, writer and actor, whose two directed features – Last Night (1998) and Childstar (2004) – exhibit a singular voice in Canadian film.
Don returned to the director’s chair for The Grand Seduction – a remake of a popular Quebecois film about a small town trying to court a big city doctor – written by original scribe, Ken Scott, and Michael Dowse.
Sitting down with Don has been one of our goals from the start, so we were thrilled to conduct this interview at our studio space in OCAD U’s Graduate Gallery before also hosting Don for a live commentary of Last Night. We go in-depth on all of his films, as well his thoughts on filmmaking in Toronto and in general.
This interview was released in July of 2014.
