Equal parts highly amusing, informative, and extensive, this medium-length documentary chronicles (mainly through an interview with director James Gray) the making of his film Little Odessa—a hugely impressive debut that anticipated the significant body of work Gray has produced since 1994. Gray’s modesty and self-aware attitude—not to mention his talent for impressions—is perfectly suited to behind-the-scenes content, and here it makes for a revealing, and very entertaining, look at a production from the perspective of the filmmaker (with contributions from the cast and crew too).
