Famed Japanese director Nagisa Oshima passed away yesterday, and so by way of sharing a curious piece of media involving him, embedded above is a playlist of videos in which Oshima talks at length with filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. While the focus of the interview is mainly on Kurosawa, as Oshima is the one asking the questions, it is still quite a treat to witness two legends of Japanese cinema in conversation with each other discussing – among many other things – experiences with their home country’s film industry and the creative process of making movies.
