San Francisco-based filmmaker Paul Clipson, in collaboration with the San Francisco-based ambient act Barn Owl, released this exceptionally beautiful short film for the song “Void Redux” earlier this year. The video, shot in Zagreb, Geneva and Berlin, exhibits all of the trademarks found in his prior films, including working with Super 8mm film and a fixation on the transfiguration of light over various environments. Shots of the sun gleaming off the railway tracks and the glowing lights of the city are spun and dissolved together through Clipson’s dizzying in-camera editing, producing a melange of vibrant and spontaneous colors. It is, like all of his work, a moving and playful merger of image and sound.

If you’ve never had the pleasure of watching any of Clipson’s other films, they are all available on his Vimeo page and at his personal website.
